“Aggregator” is a term for websites that take content from many sources and add value by building an audience around some topic or theme.  The benefit to publishers using this model is that they don’t have to be in the content production business.  The drawback is that since content may not be unique or proprietary you can’t count on deriving competitive advantage from it.  Content, in general, is fungible.  It can be sold to the highest bidder.  Content behaves like any other resource…it will flow to its highest and best use.
